A Florida woman has died as authorities believe she was trampled by horses

The two animals belonged to one of the victim’s neighbors

Authorities do not suspect foul play, adding that the owners have been cooperative

A Florida woman has reportedly been killed by her neighbor’s horses, the same animals she would regularly visit and feed.

The incident happened just before 2 p.m. local time on Thursday, Feb. 5, in a field next to the Lucerne Lakeside Mobile Home Park, WFLA, Fox 13 Tampa Bay, and Tampa Free Press reported, citing the Winter Haven Police Department.

An identity for the victim had not yet been made public.

PEOPLE reached out to the Winter Haven Police Department and the Winter Haven medical examiner's office for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the woman unconscious and with visible injuries to her body consistent with being trampled by a large animal, such as a horse.

Two horses were reportedly found within close proximity to her.

Life-saving measures were performed by police, before Polk County EMS transported the woman to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

"Our hearts go out to the family and friends of this beloved woman who cared so much to interact and feed these horses," Police Chief Vance Monroe said.

"This was a terribly tragic accident, and we will pray for those she has left behind," he added.

While speaking to others in the area, investigators learned that the woman frequently fed the horses.

Foul play is not suspected and the owners of the two horses have been cooperating with authorities, local news stations reported, citing police.
