The verdict is in for the future of The Lincoln Lawyer.
Netflix's hit legal drama, adapted from Michael Connelly's series of the same name, was renewed for a fifth season in January 2026 — only days ahead of the season 4 premiere on Feb. 5.
“We’re so excited to share the upcoming season with the audience on Feb. 5, and even more excited to share the news that we’re already hard at work on the next one,” showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez told Tudum at the time.
They added, “Season 4 is the most challenging and intensely personal journey we’ve taken Mickey Haller on yet, and we’re thrilled and grateful to be able to continue the ride in Season 5!”
Since 2022, The Lincoln Lawyer has starred Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as a charismatic Los Angeles defense attorney who runs his practice from the back seat of his Lincoln Town Car. Each season follows Mickey as he takes on high-stakes cases while navigating the personal and ethical complications of defending the accused.

Yes, Netflix ordered a fifth, 10-episode season of The Lincoln Lawyer in January 2026 — but even its star isn’t fully in the know of the details just yet. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter around the time of season 4’s release, Garcia-Rulfo said he’s only been given a loose sense of where the story is headed.
"I’m told the basics of what’s going to be the next season — but very vaguely," he said. "I don’t know how the writers room works, but they always give me an idea of where it’s going."
What will season 5 of The Lincoln Lawyer be about?

Though an official logline hasn't been released, Netflix confirmed that season 5 will be inspired by Connelly's 2023 Lincoln Lawyer book, Resurrection Walk.
In the novel, Mickey teams up with his half-brother, retired LAPD detective Harry Bosch, to help free a woman wrongfully convicted of murdering her ex-husband. That storyline would mirror a full-circle moment for Mickey after season 4, when he found himself on the other side of the justice system after being falsely accused of killing a former client.
"If you look back at the show, it’s taken this very clear trajectory from a redemption story of a guy flying too close to the sun to being haunted by the sins of the past and now having all kinds of enemies he’s made conspire in a way to bring him down,” Humphrey told Tudum.
The showrunner noted that the accusation had fundamentally changed Mickey, saying, "What that change means to Mickey or how that change manifests itself in his life is obviously something we’re excited to explore going forward."

In addition to Garcia-Rulfo reprising his starring role as Mickey, most of the main cast is set to return for season 5. Neve Campbell will be back as prosecutor Maggie McPherson, alongside Becki Newton as Lorna Crane, Jazz Raycole as Izzy Letts and Angus Sampson as investigator Cisco Wojciechowski.
Cobie Smulders, who joined the series in season 4 as Mickey's sister Allison, is also confirmed to return. In a January 2026 interview with News Channel 9, she described the next season as "a family affair."
Sadly, there's one beloved character who won't be returning to The Lincoln Lawyer: David "Legal" Siegel. Played by Elliott Gould, Mickey's substitute father and friend died in season 4 after suffering a fatal heart attack.
