Nicolas Cage is one of the most beloved actors on the planet. From his iconic work in action classics like Face/Off and Con Air to his wholly unique performances in Adaptation and Raising Arizona, he's developed a fan base as loyal as anyone's in Hollywood.
Still, most Cage fans won't be able to see one of his upcoming films on the big screen. Amazon MGM is forgoing a wide theatrical release for Madden, David O. Russell's sports drama starring Cage as legendary NFL coach and broadcaster John Madden. It'll hit Prime Video on Nov. 18 instead.
Amazon didn't give a reason why it's dumping Madden on streaming. Russell's last movie, 2022's Amsterdam, was a financial and critical disaster, though, making $31 globally on a $80 million budget while landing a 32% Rotten Tomatoes rating. He's primarily known for American Hustle, The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook.
Cage has found recent success in Longlegs and Dream Scenario, with the former making $128 million worldwide on a budget under $10 million. He recently made his television debut in Amazon's Spider-Noir, a spin-off series featuring the character he voiced in 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

His transformative performance in Madden will also hit TV screens.

Christian Bale joins Cage on screen as longtime Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis, while Kathryn Hahn plays Madden's wife, Virginia Madden. Sienna Miller, John Mulaney and Shane Gillis will also appear in the movie.

The Cage sports drama will hit Prime Video on Nov. 18.
