The White Sox story is truly incredible.

And the young team kept the magic rolling Wednesday with a 7-3 victory over the Houston Astros, bringing an end to their American League wild-card series in two games.

The playoff series win marks Chicago's first since 2005, with the 21-year drought being the longest in Major League Baseball behind only the Cincinnati Reds. (RELATED: What Have You Done For Me Lately? Mariners' Dan Wilson Fired After Just Taking Seattle To ALCS In 2025)

South Side's turnaround wasn't supposed to happen this soon. They're young, they're inexperienced, and just two seasons ago, they had a historic 121-loss campaign.

"We've got a young, hungry group, some veteran guys that we lean on," said second baseman Chase Meidroth, per ESPN. "But it's been the same all year. We believe we can win every game."

Oct. 26, 2005 was the last time the White Sox clinched a postseason series, and it took place in the same ballpark against the same team, the Astros. Then, the stadium was called Minute Maid Park.

Baseball has a funny way of proving the negative wrong, and let's be honest, almost everyone outside of 35th and Shields wrote the White Sox off as a multi-year wasteland.

What I can't get over the most with the Houston series is the way they swaggered into the city and took two straight from an October powerhouse without blinking.

Can they run the table all the way to a pennant? What about another World Series title?

Maybe the pitching depth catches up to them in a seven-game dogfight or maybe the postseason pressure finally introduces itself. But right now, who cares?

The story is too special not to enjoy.
