Mark Ruffalo, Silvia Dionicio, and Phoebe Fox in 'Task' Season 1 - HBOPhoebe Fox opens up about her absence from the next chapter.

TaskSeason 2 is taking shape at HBO, and while the details surrounding the highly anticipated next chapter of Brad Ingelsby‘s drama remain mum, casting announcements have offered plenty of insight as to who will be featured and who will not.

As previously unveiled, Season 2 will make way for an epic crossover as Julianne Nicholson boards the series led by Mark Ruffalo, reprising her role as Lori from Ingelsby’s other Delco-set favorite Mare of Easttown. Ruffalo will once again portray FBI agent Tom Brandis, who continues to experience his home life in contrast with his work.

Season 1 explored his familial struggles as he raised daughter Emily (Silvia Dionicio) in the wake of her brother Ethan (Andrew Russel) having pushed their mother down the stairs, ending her life amid a mental health crisis. As the series revealed, Emily and Ethan were adopted by Tom and his wife, who shared a biological daughter, Sara (Phoebe Fox).

Although there was tension as Ethan’s trial approached, forcing the family to confront the grief and anger surrounding their matriarch’s loss, sisters Emily and Sara ultimately found common ground and grew closer. But despite the deeper connection formed in Season 1, Fox reveals to TV Insider she won’t be back for Season 2.

“I’m not coming back for Season 2,” Fox says from the red carpet premiere of her new HBO series War, in which she portrays lawyer Serena Byrne. As Fox explains, the reason Sara won’t be a part of Task Season 2 is  “because my character lives in a completely different city. So yes, unfortunately not, because I love doing that show.”
