Prince Harry has received a significant rebuke from the public after a poll revealed that a large majority of respondents do not want him to stay at Buckingham Palace during his next visit to the UK.
The Duke of Sussex, who was in Britain earlier this month, is scheduled to return in September.
This annual visit is typically to attend the WellChild Awards. While Harry, who stepped back from royal duties six years ago, usually stays in hotels, with friends, or with his Spencer relatives, reports indicate that King Charles intends to offer his son a room at Buckingham Palace.

This follows a similar offer extended during Harry's most recent UK stay.
However, the Palace accommodation fell through this month after Harry accepted the invitation with insufficient notice, forcing the duke to make alternative arrangements.
While the September visit may prove more successful if Harry responds to the invitation promptly, a poll conducted by The Daily Express suggests the British public is far from enthusiastic about the prospect.
The survey, which ran from 9.40am on Monday (July 27) until 1pm on Tuesday (July 28), saw 5006 people vote no when asked "Should King Charles let Prince Harry stay at Buckingham Palace?"
A total of 394 people voted "yes" and 52 said they don't know.

Despite public reservations, the gesture is being seen as a positive development in the ongoing efforts to repair the relationship between Harry and the King. It remains unclear whether Harry has accepted an invitation to stay.
It is also uncertain whether he will be accompanied by his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five.
Harry's family joined him during his most recent UK visit, though they arrived near the conclusion of his trip and did not make any public appearances.
This is thought to be due to security concerns, with the family having modified their plans to arrive in Britain earlier after Harry learned they would not receive armed police protection. As a result, he spent nearly five days alone in the UK before his wife and children joined him.
In the comments section of the article, one reader commented: "Absolutely, that way he can not complain about his safety. Also, he can be observed to see his behavior towards staff while being waited on."
Another remarked, "I can see both sides of this. I think by having a specific place to stay, he may bring the grandchildren again. Also, it allows the King to control what is brought in - no Netflix crews. There are rules to the area that even Henry grew up knowing you don't cross."
A final commenter stated: "At the end of the day, Harry is King Charles's son. That is the reason the offer has been made - and although I agree that Harry and Meghan have treated the Royal Family abysmally in the past, I would still like to see father and son reach some sort of truce."
