Paulina Porizkova looked back on her journey to self-acceptance by rocking a bikini in an Instagram video posted ahead of her 61st birthday
She reflected on how her confidence has grown since her early career as a supermodel in her 20s
Porizkova also said that she "upped" her workout routine so she is bride-ready ahead of her nuptials to fiancé Jeff Greenstein
Paulina Porizkova knows that her future is as bright as her birthday candles.
The supermodel turned 61 on Thursday, April 9, and ahead of the occasion, she took to Instagram with an honest video about her path to self-love — all while posing in a string bikini.
"I'm trying on this new super cute summer bikini and I'm reminded of how far I've traveled in self-acceptance," began Porizkova in the Wednesday, April 8 post.
As various clips of the fashion star in her triangle top and briefs played, she reflected on how her confidence has grown over the decades. "I will be 61 tomorrow and I understand this might sound crazy to you, but 40 years ago when I was 21 and when I was at the height of my career and supermodeldom, that was when I felt the most insecure, partly because of the endless comparisons to the other models by the people who employed me. I never seemed to be good enough."
She admitted that her "self-worth was "entirely" tied to her looks back then, but she's formed a healthier relationship with her figure. "So today, I'm trying on this cute summer bikini and I flex muscles that I've been working my cellulite butt off for, not necessarily so I can look best in this bikini, but to feel my best in this sixth decade."

Porizkova, who changed into a dress during the video, then backtracked and said, "Actually, who am I kidding? I kicked my workout up like 10 notches because I do want to look my best this summer, but not necessarily in a bikini [but rather] in a wedding dress."
It's no surprise that Porizkova is daydreaming about walking down the aisle. She is, after all, engaged to writer Jeff Greenstein and announced the news last August. "He asked," she captioned a video in which she revealed her sparkling engagement ring.

She's also no stranger to sharing empowering messages of body positivity on social media, having done so just recently last month. She filmed various parts of her figure, clad in nothing but a pink lingerie, in a March 12 Instagram video that came along with an inspiring message about aging. “The reality is this. I am 60 years old. This is what it looks like," she said, adding "You know what? I like myself better this way."
This past November, Porizkova also bared her hip surgery scars in an honest video. "If you’re like me, you will also zero in on the shape of my body—and hopefully —think with relief, 'Ah, she’s not perfect either,' " she wrote.
