Pat McAfee has instructed critics to "rot" following Jason Kelce's apology to audiences for describing the Philadelphia Eagles as "We."
McAfee playfully corrected Eagles icon Kelce several times for using "we" when discussing the Eagles during their 27-7 loss at Soldier Field against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. Kelce, who hung up his cleats after the 2023 NFL season, certainly earned the privilege to maintain that collective perspective about the Eagles following 13 seasons in Philadelphia and one Super Bowl championship.
"A lot of we talk out of Jason for Philly," McAfee remarked as Kelce's colleague on ESPN's Monday Night Countdown. Nevertheless, McAfee's comment attracted criticism from some viewers who were displeased with the TV host's remark. It comes after Pat McAfee addresses new Charlie Kirk assassination threat over fake ESPN image.

Among those who defended Kelce that evening was former ESPN personality Ryan Clark. "I'm trying to mind my own, but hell yea it's 'We' Future Hall of Famer!! You're a legend @JasonKelce," Clark posted on X.
"Blood, sweat, tears, and glory in Philly. No one can take that away. You can still do your job the right way! Bump anyone saying differently."

The backlash prompted McAfee to address the controversy, where he quickly told critics who failed to recognize he was joking to "rot," while seemingly referencing Clark's remarks.

"Now, I usually mind my own, but if you thought I was being serious whenever I pointed out Jason Kelce was saying 'we' about the Philadelphia Eagles, knowing who Jason Kelce is, with the Philadelphia Eagles at the Monday Night Football halftime, you have no brain, and I think you should just realize that," McAfee said.
"I don't love just the lying and the stuff that happens on my name these days, but just saying stuff to continue to add gas to a flame that isn't real when you're in this place and carry as much weight as you definitely do, I think it's a little bit of a piling on, and I hope you all rot. All of you," McAfee concluded.
McAfee's appearance alongside Kelce on ESPN's MNC isn't unexpected, considering ESPN's substantial investment in the outspoken broadcaster.

The network is allegedly working to finalize a worldwide agreement with McAfee valued at over $60 million per year, which means Disney stakeholders will anticipate seeing substantial returns.
With such significant financial backing, ESPN will probably provide McAfee with an even larger platform.
Following his gradual expansion throughout the network, he has emerged as one of its leading figures alongside Stephen A. Smith.
