One Royal Doesn’t Hesitate to Tell Prince William He’s Being ‘Pompous,’ Royal Author Reveals

As the future King, Prince William seems to be one of the most charismatic members of the Royal family, leaving no stone unturned in upholding the integrity of the institution. However, there is one member of the Royal family who is not afraid to call him out when he gets too “pompous.” The individual in question is his cousin, Zara Tindall, who is one of his sharpest critics.
Royal author Robert Jobson has now revealed that William’s cousin unabashedly schools him whenever he gets too pompous or overblown, which not many people around him can freely do.
Zara Tindall is Prince William’s Sharpest Critic
Jobson told The Daily Mail that Zara is not afraid to tell the Prince of Wales that “he is being pompous” and readily does so whenever the opportunity arises. William, however, readily accepts the criticism without protest.
Zara Tindall can be so candid with her cousin because of the close bond they have shared since childhood.
Reportedly, the cousins spent much of their childhood together because they were close in age. They primarily spent their summers together at Balmoral Castle and Christmases in Sandringham.
Zara Tindall Knew William Before “He Was A Headline”
The Royal author added that Zara, “knew him before he was a headline” and “has no angle” when it comes to being brutally honest with the Prince of Wales. It is this close bond that enables her to call out Prince William when she thinks he’s getting carried away.
William does not seem to mind and appears to adore Tindall, having named her one of Prince George’s seven godparents.

However, unlike William, Zara Tindall has not been bestowed with a Royal title since her mother, Princess Anne, decided not to give titles to her or her brother, Peter Phillips.
But irrespective of this, Zara has established herself as one of the most charming, easy-going, and non-controversial members of the Royal family. Robert Jobson also described her as being “versatile and gifted” enough to strike a balance between being an active working royal and an ordinary person.
The author told the publication that Zara, “turns out when the family asks.” Jobson added that Tindall also remains unfazed by her Royal lineage, having spent “her whole life declining to be impressed by the tent.” He also suggested that she passed this quality on to her cousin-by-marriage, Kate Middleton, after she joined the institution following her April 2011 wedding to Prince William.
The Royal author also told the publication that Zara Tindall shares a close bond with William’s eldest son, Prince George, who is her first cousin once removed and her godson.
Describing their relationship as “easy,” Jobson added that Tindall does not hesitate to pull George’s legs. Zara’s husband, Mike Tindall, also shares a close bond with William. The former rugby player has reportedly also taught George the importance of learning how to lose, drawing on his own experience in sports.
