OK Go went viral with their 2006 music video for their single āHere It Goes Again,ā during a time when videos could not be shared on social media
The video sees the groupās members performing impeccably timed choreography on a series of treadmills arranged in rows
In celebration of the music videoās 20th anniversary, the group shared some behind-the-scenes facts about how it all came together
OK Go is remembering a special moment in their career.
On Friday, July 31, the band shared a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the music video for their single āHere It Goes Again.ā In the caption, they reflected on what it was like to put out a music video that went very viral online, amassing millions of views in the last two decades.
āOn this day in 2006, we released the āHere It Goes Againā music video. This video cost less than $5,000 and was shot in 17 very sweaty takes, but it took us to the Grammys, the VMAs, and to the email inboxes of millions of people (you couldnāt share videos to social media back then),ā they wrote in the post.ā20 years later, we actually now can share this to social media. Enjoy!ā
Text over the video explained how lead singer and guitarist Damian Kulashās sister, Trish Sie, shot the entire video in a room sheād built in her backyard to host professional ballroom dancing classes.
āYou canāt rent treadmills, so Trishās husband Roe made a deal to buy & sell them back (if we didnāt break them),ā the group explained. Pointing out bassist Tim Nordwindās appearance during a tough transition, they joked, āIf you look closely, there is a single dry spot on Timās vest. The rest is drenched in sweat.ā
During another portion of the video, the text read, āOriginally, our label uploaded this to a site called āStupidVideos.com.ā Stupid or not, it was the most-played video on MTV, VH1, and iTunes at one point. It hit 900,000 views in one day before you could even share videos on social media.ā

The video highlighted some of the videoās accolades. In it, the band recalled the visual being named one of the 30 best music videos of all time by TIME and that it beat the Red Hot Chili Peppersā āDani Californiaā and āWhen You Were Youngā by The Killers for the Best Music Video Grammy award.

The group has only built on the legacy of the āHere It Goes Againā video over the last 20 years. Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE in April 2025, Kulash and Nordwind talked about their music video for āLove,ā calling it the most intricately involved of their videos so far.
āEach of the robots had to be programmed and there was several different teams of robot programmers working in tandem,ā Kulash, 50, explained. āAnd of course every optical trick has to be very precise for it all to work. We had to do it in a train station that never got above 35 degrees because itās the middle of winter in Budapest, and there were pigeons living in there just leaving their marksĀ all over everything.ā
āItās just a very weird and wonderful experience in terms of ā thereās always little things that go wrong along the way,ā Kulash added of any issues that arise during any music video process. āThey feel more like pivots than they do dead ends. Like, okay, well, thatās not going to work, so thisāll have to.ā
