John Davidson, the Tourette Syndrome advocate who involuntarily yelled the n-word while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo presented at the 2026 British Academy Film Awards in February, is collaborating with the organization to attend the upcoming BAFTA Scotland Awards in November.

BAFTA Scotland announced its full list of nominations on Thursday, Oct. 1. I Swear, a movie based on Davidson’s life and experience with Tourette’s, received seven total nominations, including a nod for actor Robert Aramayo, who portrays Davidson. (Davidson is also an executive producer on the movie.)

Along with the nominations, the organization’s chair Sara Putt and CEO Jane Millichip sent a letter to members detailing efforts being made to allow Davidson to comfortably attend the Nov. 15 ceremony in Glasgow.

The executives noted in their letter that they have collaborated with organizations like Tourettes Action and Tourette Scotland, as well as with Davidson himself. ā€œFollowing those conversations and our wider risk assessment, we have made adjustments to enable John to attend in the way he has suggested to us,ā€ Putt and Millichip wrote in their letter, as obtained by PEOPLE, ā€œwhich is to watch the ceremony via video link from a separate relaxed space within the venue together with his family and friends.ā€

Variety was first to report on news regarding plans for Davidson’s attendance at the November ceremony. The outlet also noted that I Swear’s seven nominations at the upcoming ceremony are the most in BAFTA Scotland’s history.

During the Feb. 24 ceremony in London, Davidson — who began experiencing symptoms ofĀ Tourette syndrome, which causes involuntary verbal and physical tics, at age 12 — yelled the n-word while Sinners stars Jordan, 39, and Lindo, 73, presented an award onstage.

Davidson has apologizedmultiple times for the incident, which the BBC aired when it broadcast the ceremony that night and did not remove from its on-demand video service iPlayer until the following morning.

Putt and Millichip noted in an Oct. 1 letter that the organization understands that vocal tics that use words ā€œrelating to race, religion, sexuality or other protected characteristics can cause distress and harm to others, and it is BAFTA’s responsibility to plan for and mitigate any such impact on our guests.ā€

ā€œWe take this very seriously. These changes reflect a broader principle we are embedding in our Awards planning: listening to people about their needs, preparing carefully, and creating an environment in which everyone is treated with dignity and respect,ā€ they wrote. ā€œWe know that no live event can be entirely risk-free. We will continue to test our processes, review how they operate in practice and be accountable for improving them. We will do everything we can to make sure every guest feels safe, welcome, and included at our Awards.ā€

A total of 41 movies and television series received nominations for the BAFTA Scotland Awards on Oct. 1. Scottish radio and television host Edith Bowman will host the ceremony on Nov. 15.
