Luke Bryan denied using AI to write his latest single "Fish Hunt Golf Drink" amid online accusations

Songwriters Chase McGill and Matt Dragstrem confirmed the song was inspired by Bryan's real-life hobbies and personality in a recent interview with Rolling Stone

"Fish Hunt Golf Drink" is the third single from Bryan's upcoming album Signs, slated for release on Sept. 18

Luke Bryan wants fans to know he doesn't use AI to write his music.

Following the release of his latest single, "Fish Hunt Golf Drink," the singer addressed some AI accusations head-on.

"We've had some negativity out there. Some trolls kinda saying that I AI'ed it, which is completely false," he told NBC4 at the Memorial Pro-Am on Wednesday, June 3.

"That song was designed for one thing," Bryan, 49, continued. "To have fun and tell the world what I love to do and what I strive to do."

When he teased the single on social media in May, Bryan received numerous comments about AI, for example, "what in the chat gbt."

"Is this ai?" a social media user wrote, while another noted, "This is so bad, saying it's AI is disrespectful to chat gpt!"

The country song was written by hitmakers Chase McGill and Matt Dragstrem. Last week, after suspicions were raised about the use of AI, the songwriters cleared the air with Rolling Stone.

"[He's the] least artificial person I've ever met," McGill said.

"The only way I've actually succeeded in country music, ever, is by sitting in the room with good friends and enjoying making the song up that day," he continued. "I don't believe that I would feel any fulfillment from saying 'AI, write me a song about whatever.' That's not what I signed up for."

McGill also shared the source of inspiration for the song about fishing, hunting, drinking and golfing.

"Luke was texting one of his buddies and the guy was like, 'Let's hang soon,'" he recalled. "Luke sent him an emoji of a fish, an emoji of a deer, an emoji of a golf club, and a beer emoji, and said, 'You pick which one.' Then he showed it to us. He was like, 'Dude, this could be a cool song.'"

"The dude loves to have fun. He can outfish most people I know, he's awesome in the woods, I hear he's really good at golfing," the songwriter continued, "and the dude can drink pretty well."

Dragstrem concluded, "It's not rocket science... But it's true to who Luke is."

Bryan released "Fish Hunt Golf Drink" on May 11, which marked his third single release from his forthcoming album Signs. The new album will drop on Sept. 18.

Bryan previously released the tracks "Country and She Knows It" and "Word on the Street."
