Warning: This post contains spoilers for the first three episodes of The Testaments, now on Hulu.

Elisabeth Moss returns as her Handmaid's Tale character, June Osborne, in the new sequel series, The Testaments

Star Lucy Halliday, who plays Daisy, tells PEOPLE she had no idea when she signed onto the project that Moss would be returning — and never expected to share the screen with her

"I was completely blown away," Halliday says. "She is the embodiment of The Handmaid's Tale, the show, and I definitely didn't take that for granted"

Lucy Halliday had no idea when she signed on to star in The Testaments that she'd be sharing the screen with Elisabeth Moss.

Halliday, 22, plays Daisy in the Handmaid's Tale sequel series, which premiered with the first three episodes on April 8. A rebellious teen who grew up in Toronto, Daisy's whole life changes when her parents are murdered and she learns they were involved in Mayday, the resistance group fighting against Gilead. Things get even crazier when June (Moss) arrives and tells her she was born in Gilead and smuggled out.

When she was first cast, Halliday tells PEOPLE she "didn't know anything about Elisabeth Moss being in the show."

"I was completely blown away by that realization, that I was going to get to work with Elisabeth Moss, because she is the embodiment of The Handmaid's Tale, the show, and I definitely didn't take that for granted."

"Being on set with her is such a privilege," Halliday says of Moss, 43. "I just remember being in awe of her."

Halliday admits that she "did a lot of watching her, maybe a bit creepily, from a distance," during the times they were on set together.

"I just watched her because the way she carries herself on set, the way she knows information, the way she converses with the crew, I just wanted to soak it all up because I was like, 'I want to be like that.'"

She and her costar Chase Infiniti, who plays Agnes, "really took preparing and gathering information very seriously" as the two leads of the show, Halliday says. "And it was very important to us and our work ethic to be as prepared as possible. But working with Elisabeth only perseverated that idea."

How Moss handled herself on set "further reinforced how important it is as an actor to be prepared and to know your stuff," Halliday adds. "And that was great."

The Testaments, which is based on Margaret Atwood's 2019 book, is a "dramatic coming-of-age story" that brings viewers back to Gilead 15 years after the events of the Handmaid's Tale finale.

"The series follows young teens Agnes, dutiful and pious, and Daisy, a new arrival and convert from beyond Gilead’s borders," per the synopsis. "As they navigate the gilded halls of Aunt Lydia’s elite preparatory school for future wives, a place where obedience is instilled brutally and always with divine justification, their bond becomes the catalyst that will upend their past, their present, and their future."

Along with Halliday, Infiniti and Moss, the series stars Ann Dowd, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti and Amy Seimetz.

The first three episodes of The Testaments are now streaming on Hulu, and new episodes drop Wednesdays.
