A British TV personality is reflecting on a traumatic visit to a popular European destination.
On the Tuesday, Aug. 4, episode of the Judgemental podcast, Craig Revel Horwood opened up to co-host Anton Du Beke about his worst summer getaway. The pair are both known for judging Strictly Come Dancing, the UK’s version of Dancing with the Stars.
Having heard Du Beke, 60, speak about a “grim” vacation in Spain, Revel Horwood, 61, revealed he’s also had an unfortunate experience in the country.
“I went on holiday in Madrid and got stabbed. That was nice. And it was stinking hot,” said Revel Horwood. “My jewelry was stolen as well, they ripped my necklace off my neck and gave me a big burn mark.”

He explained that he was making his way home from a nightclub at around 2 a.m. when the incident occurred. He was slashed across the stomach by an individual carrying a razor blade.
“I remember I was dancing at the Lido in Paris, and we went to Madrid for a holiday, so that ended up pretty bad,” said Revel Horwood.
The professional dancer revealed that his appearance after the “horrific” incident in Spain made it challenging to return to France.
“I got strip-searched,” he said. “I hadn’t shaved, so I did look a bit of a wreck, I’d been stabbed, I had burn marks all around my neck from where I was, like, attacked.”
“And then the French strip-searched me down to literally nothing,” he continued, adding, “They were looking for drugs.”

Revel Horwood did not clarify when the vacation occurred or if who had stabbed and robbed him had faced any consequences.
The West End star went onto recall another “horrendous” experience while visiting Africa.
“I remember flying to Mombasa in Kenya. It was all fabulous. I thought, ‘Oh yeah, I’m going on safari, that’s going to be nice.’ Got out there, arrived, all the hotels and everything were paid for in advance, and they’re giving us a bus from the airport to the hotel, and they said on arrival, ‘Your hotel has burnt down.’ ”

He emphasized, “The hotel was burnt down, and no one bothered to tell us until we actually arrived.”
The TV personality said he was eventually “shoved” in a different hotel. While in Africa, he also went on a “romantic cruise” on the River Nile in Egypt.

The vacation took a turn for the worse when multiple people got salmonella poisoning from “off chicken” eaten the night before.
“One by one, when we’re standing in the queue at the airport, people just were falling to the ground, literally dropping, like boom,” he recalled.
