Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has offered some candid revelations about her long-lasting marriage to Michael Douglas, admitting the "marriage wouldn't have lasted" under different circumstances.

The Welsh star, 57, married the Hollywood icon nearly 26 years ago, and the couple share two children together.

A marriage exceeding a quarter of a century is undeniably remarkable, especially within Hollywood circles. It comes after Michael admitted that the sizzling chemistry between him and Kathleen Turner in Romancing the Stone was not just movie magic.

Despite their 25-year age gap, the couple appear destined to remain lifelong partners.

So what's the secret to their enduring happiness? According to Oscar-winning Catherine, who claimed her award for her role in Chicago, it's "working."

She told The Times, "Michael is, like, 'Go and do that job, that's amazing.' And then he's able to fly in and see me for a long weekend. Much better than waking up, going, 'What do you want for breakfast, honey?' I don't think our marriage would ever have lasted if it was like that."

Catherine first met Michael at a film festival in France in 1998 following an introduction by Danny DeVito. They married just two years later and share son Dylan Michael, 26, and daughter Carys Zeta, 23.

The couple remarkably share the same birthday, September 25, despite having been born 25 years apart. Their relationship has faced its share of difficulties, however.

The following year, Catherine was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and checked herself into hospital. The couple temporarily separated in 2013, before swiftly reconciling.

The actress has dismissed the possibility of moving back to Wales, where she hasn't lived full-time since her teenage years.

Still, Catherine insists she continues to feel a strong connection to the country, though she admits regretting her poor command of the Welsh language.

Catherine secured her breakout role in The Darling Buds of May aged just 21, appearing alongside Sir David Jason and Pam Ferris.

The BBC comedy drama attracted Hollywood's interest, propelling her into major films including The Mask of Zorro, Oceans Twelve and High Fidelity.

She was born and raised in Swansea, Wales. She returns to her natural accent for the upcoming Amazon Prime series Kill Jackie, playing a wealthy art dealer concealing secrets from her past.

Catherine said, "People were, like, 'Thank God she's using her Welsh accent.' I think the response was that it's time for me to be Welsh."

The mother-of-two mainly lives in New York with her husband. The family moved to Bermuda for a decade to escape media attention following the birth of their children.
