The Voice: Celebrity will swap undiscovered talent for celebrity competitors

The Voice will look a little different in 2027.
Season 31 of the long-running music competition series — which will premiere after season 30 hits airwaves in the fall — will feature celebrity competitors rather than undiscovered talent. The spinoff will be titled The Voice: Celebrity.
That’s not the only twist in store for the upcoming installment. Keke Palmer will be taking over as host from Carson Daly, who has hosted the show since its first season. Coaches Queen Latifah and Riley Green, who will appear on season 30, will return for The Voice: Celebrity alongside new coach Joe Jonas.

What is The Voice: Celebrity about?

While The Voice has historically centered on undiscovered talent, season 31 swaps unknown creatives “for a wide range of celebrities — actors, musicians, influencers, athletes, comedians, and reality television stars” who will compete to become the show’s first celebrity champion, per a press release. NBC hasn’t announced the celebrity competitors yet.
Despite tapping into a pool of more well-known artists, the show will still have celebrity coaches to serve as mentors for the vocalists.
Who are the coaches for The Voice: Celebrity?

Jonas, Latifah and Green will serve as coaches on The Voice: Celebrity.
While Jonas served as a coach on The Voice Australia, the singer has been yearning to secure a spot on The Voice for years. When his brother Nick Jonas was hired as a coach on The Voice season 18, he was so jealous that he cried.

“It was at the most picturesque setting, it was at the Fleetwood Mac show at [Madison Square Garden] and as they’re playing ‘Landslide,’ I found out that he was going to be a judge on The Voice,” Joe said on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast in May 2023. “I was so jealous I cried my eyes out to ‘Landslide.’ ‘’
He continued: “It was bittersweet, of course, ‘cause I’m super happy for him, but I’m also bummed ‘cause I want that f---ing gig!”
To celebrate Joe’s debut, The Voice shared a video on Instagram in which the singer created a guest list of the coaches.
Latifah and Green both joined the show as coaches for season 30, which premieres in September. “I guess y’all can start calling me coach… see ya this fall,” Green wrote on Instagram in May 2026.
Who is the host of The Voice: Celebrity?

Palmer takes over from longtime host Daly for The Voice: Celebrity. “That’s right. It’s true. I’m hosting The Voice. I’ll see you guys there,” Palmer said in a video on Instagram.
Daly will still be a part of The Voice. “Many today have asked if I’m leaving the show. Nope. We’re gonna try out these 2 formats this fall/spring & see how it goes!” he wrote on Instagram in August 2026. “Hopefully this post clears up any confusion. I am still hosting the show currently.”
When will The Voice: Celebrity premiere?
The Voice: Celebrity will premiere on NBC in the spring of 2027, per Deadline. Production is currently underway.
