The average new car price has reached a record high of $50,000, Kelley Blue Book reported. If you’re buying a new car, you probably want it to last as long as possible so you can get your full money’s worth.
When it comes to the expected longevity of a car, the brand really matters. Currently, the average car only has a 4.8% likelihood of lasting 250,000 miles — but four brands have bested the industry average, according to a new iSeeCars.com report. The report also identified the four brands that are least likely to make it to 250,000 miles.
Here are the car brands you should buy — and avoid — if you’re looking for a long-lasting vehicle.
Car Brands Most Likely To Last 250,000 Miles
While most brands have just a small chance of hitting 250,000 miles, these car brands have a better chance than most.

Likelihood compared to the average car brand: 3.7x
Lexus -
% chance of lasting 250,000+ miles: 12.8%
Likelihood compared to the average car brand: 2.7x
Honda -
